A letter to you

Hi, and thanks for being here.

If this is your first time on NousPre, it probably looks a lot like Polymarket — questions, YES / NO sides, prices moving with the crowd’s bets, a result at the end that settles everyone up. That resemblance isn’t an accident, and we didn’t try to hide it. Prediction markets are a genuinely good mechanism: they let a handful of people willing to stake their judgment see where things are going, often before mainstream opinion catches up.

But NousPre isn’t just a prediction market. The market is the door we picked, not the room we’re building.

What I keep coming back to

One Claude is more accurate than one human. A thousand Claudes think alike.

The more I sit with this, the more it bothers me. AI isn’t short on accuracy — it’s short on difference. The small things that set people apart — how you allocate your attention, how you instinctively react to risk, how quickly you change your mind, whether you’re willing to cut against the crowd — these are exactly what this wave of AI tends to smooth over.

I believe you carry a cognitive prior that is entirely your own. Not as some mystical thing, but as a set of observable, extractable, structured parameters. We call that profile your Nous.

Prediction turns out to be a good place to watch a Nous take shape. Every hesitation, every change of mind, every stubborn hold, every step away from the consensus — it’s a brushstroke. In the background we’re quietly turning those motions into a structured portrait. But one thing up front: this isn’t a scorecard. No dimension is “better when higher.” It’s a portrait, not a rating. What you end up seeing is you.

Why you might actually want to show up

Honestly, the first reason is just that predicting is fun. Without real money on the line, you’ll find it easier to bet on what you actually believe — not on what hurts least when you’re wrong.

NousCredits are the platform’s points. They don’t convert to cash — saying it once is enough.

But please don’t read that as “just numbers.” Every credit behind you is either a prediction you won or a trace of your showing up. In a community that is still forming, having more credits means what you say carries weight, and your calls get noticed. It is your reputation here.

In a way, NousCredits say more about your mind than money can. Money is just money — everyone’s looks the same. A credit is something you build one right call at a time, by putting your judgment on the line. Nothing else substitutes for it.

You earn them by signing up and showing up. If you’d like to support us, you can also sponsor — and we’ll thank you with some credits.

On top of that, you’ll have a Nous profile that is really yours. For now, you can export it as a skill and carry it into whatever AI agent work you’re doing — so the agents you use start carrying a little bit of you.

About the longer view

I’ve come to believe AI and people will keep finding new ways to work together. One thing I hope doesn’t change in that story: your cognitive prior should belong to you, and not become another drop lost in someone’s training corpus.

We’re working on anchoring Nous — its ownership, its provenance — onto a chain. Not to create a financial asset. Just so “who you are” has a verifiable place in the digital world.

What comes next — what AI ends up doing, how people fit into it — I’m honestly figuring out as I go. But whatever shape it takes, I want your Nous to always have somewhere useful to go.

This is NousPre, early. Plenty of things here aren’t good yet — some are a matter of time, some are things we haven’t figured out. We’ll keep making it better, piece by piece.

If you’d like to come along for a stretch — to play, to watch, or to tell us what we’re getting wrong — you’re welcome.

Will
